This year, 2012, marks the 75th Anniversary of the completion of the Golden Gate Bridge. The bridge opened on May 27, 1937 to much fanfare followed by a weeklong celebration. This May, the city will celebrate the anniversary of this engineering marvel with a Golden Gate Festival along the waterfront on Memorial Day weekend.
